SHOPPING TRIP TO TRADER JOES






So todays shopping trip was done totally the wrong way on an empty stomach, I'm sure you've heard just as I have to never ever go grocery shopping on an empty stomach you'll totally purchase all the wrong things.

Well I'm proud to say I pretty much stuck to the list of replacing what I've run out of! So here's a quick review of my list:

Fresh fruits:

apples
bananas

Fresh veggies:

Salad mix
cilantro
onion
green bell pepper
green onions
tomato
avocados

Fresh poltry

2 packs of Traders Joes turkey ground meat
1 pack of turkey bacon

Misc.

Sprouted bread
raisin brand cereal
almond milk
2 dozen eggs
mustard
mint iced tea

I also purchased 4 frozen dinner type meals for emergencies at work:

chiken tikka masala
spinach lasagne
vegetable panag curry
2 chicken tamale packs

Nonmeat substitutes:

veggie pizza burger patties
viggie breakfast patties

So for today's post I'll select recipe I use for a simple calorie cutting morning breakfast pita I make and got from a fitness website.

Morning Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • whole wheat pita
  • 2 oz of low sodium turkey 
  • 1 egg or 1/3 cup egg whites or substitute
  • 1/4 avocado 
  • 1 tomato slice
  • 1 oz reduced fat cheddar
Instructions:

Scramble egg with non fat cooking spray.
Cook turkey meat in small pan with non fat cooking spray for about a minute.
Add cheese and cover pan until cheese is melted.
Place all ingredients in pita bread and enjoy.

28 carb grams and 25 grams of protein

The whole wheat pita, cheese and non fat cooking spray were from my previous Traders shopping trip. In total I spent $86 this trips food will last me for about a week and a half.

This weeks challenge is to eat dinner before 7PM!
